By:Annie Daly!!!!

There are five elements that make up The Carbon Family, these five are Carbon, Silicon, Germanium, Tin, and Lead. They are located in Group
14 of the Periodic Table and are in period 2 through 6.

Carbon-C
Silicom-Si
Germanium-Ge
Tin-Sn
Lead-Pb

These five elements are all Solids.

Physical Properties:(Hard, shiny, malleable-able to be hammered into flat sheets or other shapes.)
-Tin is a silver/matalic color and hard
-Charcoal (Carbon) is a dry and hard substance
-Graphite--A form of Carbon has a dark coloring and is very soft, and it has a layered structure.
-Most elements have a silver/gray coloring to them
-the boiling and freezing point of the element.
-Most of these elements have metal in them.

Chemical Properties:
-Metals react by losing electrons to other atoms.
-The element sodium reacts very strongly when exposed to water and air.
-Metals like sodium in order to prevent reaction need to be stored under oil in sealed containers.
-Gold and platinum are rare and they lack reactivity.

I
nteresting Facts:
